As a Music City Mom, I’m usually not at a loss for fun events to attend in our wonderful city. But when an event encompasses all three of my daughters ages (8, 11, and 12) and involves snacks and crafts, it is a huge win, and that is just what happened at the Natalie Grant Glimmer Girls book launch party.
As the storms rolled into Middle Tennessee, a delightfully pink event space was set for an afternoon of girl filled fun and food. No storm clouds in sight once we walked through the doors. As tweenage girls and their moms, aunts, friends, and grandmothers filled the room, jars started to get decorated with ribbons, buttons, sequins, and love. Each table setting had a girl’s sized necklace from Grant’s jewelry line with “Shine” stamped on a star, with a small bead charm attached. Under that, an information booklet about Zondervan’s Faithgirlz branded products, which Grant is the official spokesperson for. Tables were strewn with fun ribbons and tulle, creating a festive setting.
In the back of the room, a popcorn “Sundae” bar was set up, with popcorn, marshmallows, chocolate candies, mini pretzel sticks, cookies, brownie bites, crumb cakes, and of course lemonade! While the back of the room was flanked with snacks, the side of the room was full of all kinds of crafting embellishments for the verse jars the girls were decorating.
Grant joined the party, doing a question and answer session explaining how the book series has become a family project. This is something the girls can help contribute ideas to, and be involved in, while also providing them with quality age appropriate reading material. She revealed a few fun facts such as the outfits on the covers of the books were designed based on outfits from her daughter’s closets, and the name of the mother in the book – Gloria Glimmer, came from her mother’s name – who is Gloria. She wrapped the Q&A time up by reading a bit of the first book, “London Art Chase” with one of the tweenage guests. Finally, the girls could do photos and autographs with Grant as the weather creeped closer to the event location.
While I have yet to read the books with my girls, I will say that I am excited to have age appropriate books to read with characters that are adventurous and kind. Being Christian fiction with a spiritual lesson in each book is a bonus for my family.
Natalie Grant shines a light that can’t be extinguished in her new Glimmer Girls series.
