I was able to attend the Kidz Bop Live concert that was held at the First Bank Amphitheater in Franklin in June with my daughter. I want to let everyone know what to expect if they have the opportunity to go next year.
General Kidz Bop Live Concert Review
This concert was exactly what you would expect it to be. Running at about 90 minutes, with a brief intermission, the timing was perfect for younger children. This event started in the late afternoon, exactly on time, and it allowed families time to get dinner and have their children into bed not much later than usual for a summer evening.
If you are familiar with Kidz Bop music you’d know that you are going to hear all the popular hits from the previous year, with lyrics adjusted slightly for a younger audience. There were a few recent hits thrown in as well which the crowd all enjoyed. This year’s concert song selections included hits such as “Vampire”, “Pink Pony Club”, “Good Luck Babe”, “I Had Some Help”, “Stargazing” and “Two Sweet”.
While children of all ages can enjoy the song selection, the first-fourth grade age range seemed to enjoy the experience the most. They knew the song lyrics, enjoyed dressing up for the event, responded enthusiastically to the interactive features of the show, and were still young enough to be wowed and engaged with the dancing and digital graphics of the dance routines. As is the case for most people, the kids who came with friends seemed to have the most fun as they sang and danced, and even went to the front of the stage to “rock out” together.
Things to Know About the Kidz Bop Live Concert
Snoop Dog’s DOGGYLAND
Special guest, Snoop Dogg’s DOGGYLAND opened the show, featuring dogs that sing, dance and rap. Younger children really enjoyed the songs and dances performed as an introduction to the main event from Snoop Dog’s DOGGYLAND. Aimed at cognitive and emotional development, children enjoyed the rhymes, fun characters, and digital videos that played simultaneously on the backdrop.
Interactive
At a few points throughout the show there were opportunities for the children to vote via a QR code on which song was played next. They got the choice of two songs each time.
Dad Dance-Off
The crowd had fun cheering along as four different dads took the stage for a Dad Dance-Off. The winner took home a Unicorn Academy playset for his child.
Confetti
Possibly one of the favorite things that happened was the release of tissue paper confetti over the crowd at the beginning and end of the show. This kept children who may have otherwise lost attention along the way entertained.
Ticket Prices
Ticket prices are available at a variety of reasonable prices, making this something that the whole family could easily enjoy.
Post-Show Fun
There were opportunities for pictures and to purchase merchandise after the show for those who wanted a souvenir from their experience.
Venue
The First Bank Amphitheater was a beautiful venue, being set in a rock quarry, and had nice acoustics. It is a lengthy walk, probably about a mile and a half, maybe two miles, from the parking lots to the stage area. The venue did a great job of getting families through security quickly. They do have a very strict bag policy and they did have staff warning people that their bag would not be allowed before they got into the first gates of the venue. Many families were seen hoofing it back to the car to stow their unacceptable bags so this is not a place to “see what happens” – you will be turned away. It was a hot summer day and as people were exiting, the venue had set up water coolers and small paper cups for those who may be in need of refreshment upon exiting, which was a nice thought, especially with so many little children in attendance.
Overall this was a fun, family-friendly event that all ages can enjoy. It’s reasonable ticket prices makes it accessible for families on a budget and the engaging dynamics of the show keep their young audience entertained throughout the performance.
