I had the best Girls Night last night at TPAC for Girl’s Night: The Musical! I want to thank the promoter for offering me free tickets to see it, in exchange for my honest review. I’m recovering from a cold and, honestly, really wanted to just stay home and rest, but I’m so glad I didn’t. Girl’s Night: The Musical was so fun, laugh-out-loud funny, and sweet all at once.

The story is narrated by one of the friends, who is now an angel because she died 22 years ago. The friends who are living, and still friends after all those years, are waiting for the angel’s daughter to show up for her engagement party at a karaoke bar. It reminded me of the “Sex and the City” café chats the 4 of them often had – outrageously funny and definitely rated R – with some awesome 80’s songs mixed in. Wear some comfortable shoes because you’re going to standing up, dancing, and singing through most of it. There was a sweet side to the story as well, though; about how difficult it can be to maintain long-time friends and sticking together so you’ll always have your girlfriends.

This is what the press release says about it and it is spot on.

Girls Night: The Musical follows five friends as they re-live the past, celebrate the present, and look to the future on a wild and hilarious karaoke night out. Audiences may recognize a bit of themselves in each, including the outrageous Carol, blunt Anita, designated driver Kate, and sassy, not-so-angelic Sharon who just couldn’t resist tagging along! Described as Desperate Housewives meets Mamma Mia! (Applause Magazine) and “As funny and outrageous as Sex and the City!” (The Advocate), Girls Night: The Musical is packed with favorite hits including “Lady Marmalade,” “It’s Raining Men,” “Man I Feel Like A Woman,” “I Will Survive,” “We Are Family,” and many more!

I have to say, I will never look at the Hokey Pokey the same way again. This is a definite must see for a Girl’s Night Out!
